This large antique Persian Serapi rug from around 1900 features a grand central medallion with layered geometric and floral elements in soft green and ivory, set against a rich terracotta field. The medallion extends with graceful corner spandrels and smaller hooked motifs that fill the space in an open, balanced way. Multiple wide borders include repeating stylized flowers, diamond chains, and narrow guard bands in contrasting blue and beige, giving the rug a classic yet softened appearance with gentle fading.

Serapi rugs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries are known for their large scale and tribal-inspired designs that blend strong geometry with more spacious layouts. Natural dyes produce the warm red ground and muted accents that age beautifully into harmonious tones. This example’s square-ish proportions, fine wool knotting on cotton foundation, and excellent condition make it a rare and desirable antique piece.

Ideal for spacious living rooms, formal dining areas, or great rooms where it can serve as the main floor covering under large furniture. The generous size and softer palette provide warmth and elegance without overpowering the space. Its durable construction and timeless traditional style ensure it remains a stunning, long-lasting focal point.
